About me

I am an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT), NOVA University Lisbon. Since 2023 I am also Co-Director of UNINOVA — Institute for the Development of New Technologies, a non-prfit R&D institute.

I received my PhD from NOVA University Lisbon in 2004, with a thesis on debugging of distributed programs, and I am a founding member of the NOVA LINCS Research Center. My research focuses on in-memory data management for parallel and large-scale computing systems, verification, testing and debugging of concurrent programs, and edge/fog computing. I am co-author of more than 50 articles and papers, and I have been a visiting researcher at IBM Research Haifa (2011), University of São Paulo at São Carlos (2014), and Brno University of Technology (2015).

I am also a regular contributor to the LaTeX community, and the author of the popular novathesis LaTeX thesis template.
